I recently formatted and reinstalled Windows XP on my computer. During Windows setup, I deleted all of the partitions on my hard drive and created a new one for the reinstall, but in doing so I think I accidentally deleted the partition that belonged to the MagicJack. Now MagicJack won't work and I think I need to somehow create a new partition before it will work, but I don't know how to do this. Is there any free software out there that I can use to make a new partition for MagicJack? I tried going back into Windows setup to use the partition manager there, but it won't load when MagicJack is plugged in.
Edit: I solved my problem. All I had to do was go to Disk Management in Windows and it allowed me to set up a new partition. I had no idea Windows XP even had a disk management utility, but I sure am glad it does!

Re: MagicJack partition erased?
Glad you got things working, but I'm wondering if you're wasting a disk partition by "giving" it to the MJ. The MJ doesn't use a disk partition, at least not on my PC (XP/Linux dual boot), and I've never heard of it using one on anyone else's PC either. OTOH, it does appear as a "removable storage device" and gets assigned a drive letter or letters in the "my computer" window.magicjacques wrote:During Windows setup, I deleted all of the partitions on my hard drive and created a new one for the reinstall, but in doing so I think I accidentally deleted the partition that belonged to the MagicJack. For example, my hard drive has 4 partitions. XP (NTFS) is on the first, Linux is on the second and third, and a FAT32 partition is on the fourth. XP can only recognize the first and fourth, and gives them drive letters C and F. When I plug in the MJ, XP gives it the next two letters available as labels, D and E. But it's not using the Linux partitions, just the two drive letters which happen to correspond to the partitions. (Believe me, I checked to make sure!) Maybe you're seeing something similar?
The signup page says I need to put a sig here.

It doesn't use a hard disk partition, but the MagicJack acts as something of a flash drive in order to store your configuration information. I guess it's designed that way so you can move your MagicJack between different computers and it will still know your login details, contact list, etc. I accidentally deleted the flash drive's partition when I was reinstalling Windows, and that's what caused the problem.
