Your IP address shows that you are coming through a school system.
If you are at school, they may have a firewall that is blocking MJ and you may be out of luck, unless their IT guy is a good buddy
If you are working from home and are connected to the school by VPN, take the VPN down and try MJ again.
Otherwise, please describe your situation in more detail.

I'm getting the same error. I've tried everything I can think of, magicfix, upgrade, format the MJ, etc, etc. I can't get it to work.
I'm behind a software firewall (Smoothwall Express 3.0 - others have reported sucess w/ MJ). All outgoing ports are open both in windows firewall and SWE. Brighthouse networks is my ISP (which they resell road runner).
I've tried tech chat several times, mostly they just have me add ports 5061, 80 and 443 into windows firewall - but those are all open outbound. Otherwise they've said it's
a) blocked ports at ISP - which they are not blocked
b) blocked ports in windows firewall - which they are not
c) blocked ports in network firewall - which they are not
d) virus scan software (using AVG8 free edition) - i've uninstalled and it hasn't helped - so it's not AVG
Any other suggestions?
I've never really been able to complete the registration. When I log into my.magicjack.com - I see my phone number and everything looks set up and OK - but my device can't get it's information from MJ. Both during start up (when I first plug the device in) and after I click on the window (inside of the MJ client) that says "Please connect to the internet and click here" I get a pop up back that says "Provisioning servers are not accessable. Please check your internet connection."
At this point I think I'm just going to return the MJ.

In Internet Explorer (not another browser) open https://prov1.talk4free.com/softphone/provision/ . Proceed past the certificate error. You should see some fake data with all zeros names and numbers. If you can't get this far, report what errors you get, where it hangs, etc. If you do see this data then we'll try to figure out why MJ can't access the server properly.
No problems at all getting the fake data.

When I first plug it in I get a little window that says, "Starting... Please wait..." with a black bar that walks across. When it gets past half way I get a windows error pop-up that says "Provisioning servers are not accessible. Please check your Internet connection." I press OK and then the MJ application appears.
In the MJ software: On the left (in the ad space) it says: "IMPORTANT! Please be patient. A registration screen will appear shortly. In order for the magicJack to function properly you must fill out the registration screen completely". In the top center it says "magicJack Please connect to the Internet, and double click here".
Edit: A few things: 1) The very FIRST time I plugged in my MJ I walked through the registration screens. Had no problems until the end - when I got the message I keep getting here (servers are not accesible error). 2) Now the registration screen looks like the one below. 3) No matter how long I wait, nothing ever appears - I have to double click the message in the top center to get it to do anything.
After I double click I get a "Registration" screen that asks for my email and password. I put both of those in and after about 10 seconds or so I get a new pop-up with the same error as before, "Provisioning servers are not accessible. Please check your Internet connection".

Ok: Per stewart I tried:
Running via modified shortcut from hard drive: no change
Added another email / password to my account: no change
It's important to note:
I have 3 (WinXP) computers at home: tried all 3 - same results
I've tried this: a) behind my firewall, b) with my PC set as the DMZ host in my firewall and 3) with my PC plugged directly into my cable modem - all same result
I've tried this on my work computer (behind a corporate firewall, but all outgoing ports are open for me - yea, IT guys) - same result.
I've tried this on a WinXP machine (at work) sitting on the public internet (no firewall between the computer & internet) - same result.
As this is a "soft phone" I can't imagine it's the magicJack itself, I am starting to feel that something is "Jacked" with my account/serial number on their server.
TechChat is USELESS if magicFix and/or the upgrade doesn't fix your issue.
I'm out of ideas again.

I'm having the EXACT same issues as Nytefire is on my new MJ that i received yesterday. Tried everything he has along with two jaunts with chat/tech support (one is ongoing and Maria is stumped LOL) I've got a feeling that if anybody solves this, it will be stewart. If I get it going I'll post back how to do it. In the meantime, any other help/ideas will be greatly appreciated.
I've spent all morning digging through packet captures.
It looks like the conversation between reg.talk4free.com & prov1.talk4free.com are OK. (These are all unencrypted http / port 80 traffic). YES your email address & password get sent plain text over the internet for all to see... I can even spoof all of this in a browser & I get a successful "thank you for registering your magicJack" page.
What I can't tell if it's working or not is when it's negotiating a connection with vma7.nashville.talk4free.com and/or vmb7.nashville.talk4free.com. All of that traffic is HTTPS so I can't see what it's really doing. But I *DO* see traffic flowing both ways...

Handed off to Therese... This is getting good...
Therese: Please make sure that your system clock is correct.
Jim Zeigler: Tuesday, June 10 2008, 12:33PM
Therese: Good.
Therese: Click the link below for magicFix:
Therese: http://www.magicjacktv.com/1/magicfix.asp
Jim Zeigler: Same results as before. everything is good until it tries to connect to the calling servers that is where i get the red x
Therese: Please click on the link to download and run the upgrade:
Therese: http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe
Therese: After that, please unplug your magicJack then plug it back in after 15 seconds
Jim Zeigler: Therese, both Maria and Kenny have had me try this already twelve times. I doubt the 13th will work. But, i'll try it anyway.
Therese: Thank you.
Jim Zeigler: same problem... "Provisioning servers not accesible. Please check you Internet connection"
Therese: What version of your operating system are you using?
Jim Zeigler: Window XP SP3.
Therese: I see.
Therese: I understand now.
Therese: We have a new update as of the moment.
Therese: MagicJack will not work in XP version SP3.
Jim Zeigler: Sooo, What do i do?
Therese: Do you have other PC with you now?
Therese: With different Operating system?
Jim Zeigler: No.
Therese: Oh I see.
Therese: Since it will not work on your PC then you may return your magicJack back to us. Sad to say but we can do nothing. You may reorder if you have other PC with SP2 version. However, I can give you the instructions on how to install to SP2.

I find this interesting.
I had the same images yesterday after the house lost power.
I am on bellsouth, now AT&T.
Some time ago a bellsouth rep gave me the address to their sign on web site. I put it in IE and then log on to my bellsouth dsl account and bang it says you have logged on and now you are connected. MJ loaded right up.
I see your problem is fixed but was wondering if this would help you if it should up again with your provider.

Watched your video - also irrelevant to my situation.HendersonMike wrote:I also had that problem this evening and here is my story and the fix for me.

I firmly believe the problem was on MJ's end and someone somewhere finally fixed something.
I really didn't do anything different - it just started working. And if you know anything about computers - they don't just start working.

Oh, and I hope you enjoy your movies HendersonMike
