Windows 2000 again...PLEASE

Post by icefire »

Some of us have been asking again and again...very little usable help has been offered...Please help. When us on Win 2000 plug in the MJ, it freezes up on the splash screen and does not load the software. An error msg. appears, "OS Not Supported", but when we run Magic Fix, it says 'system supported" . This makes me think that if it could just load, it would work. One person suggested registering on an XP machine, copying the MJUSBSP folder and disabling autorun, and trying. That doesnt work. Another gave a very technicial process to try, that I couldnt follow. Thanks, but....can ANYBODY give us an EASY to understand way to get MJ to work on a WIN 2000 comp? I only have one comp. It belongs to my work, so I can not change the OS. I bought a MJ, with 5 years service, and cant use it....HELP!!

I’m using Win2003 enterprise server sp2 with VMware virtual software with XP pro sp2 installed. MJ works fine with the virtual software and XP installed.

I tried it with Microsoft’s virtual sw but it does not recognize USB ports.
You will still need to install WinXP after installing VMware.

I have not tried this configuration on a Win2000 platform. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

VMware is free and can be downloaded at: www.VMware.com.

Hope this helps.

The problem appears to be that, while the underlying program (SJ Phone) is perfectly happy running under Windows 2000, the installation program is instructed to puke at any OS that is not on its "approved" list.

At any rate, Stewart's advice is the best out there to date.
