You don't have to worry about saving any of the MJ files ... Just plug it into any other computer and it will re-install to it. Like say, you have your MJ set up on your current computer and you go to visit someone in another place/state/country.... Just take your MJ with you and plug it into their computer. It should install and start working with your original phone number all ready to go.
Only files you would save would be any of the wave files you get from any voice-mails and have downloaded into your comp.

I am curious about "the two Magicjack files", what two files are you talking about there are several files that MJ puts on your machine. I am just wondering what two files you have singled out for all the files on your machine that are MagicJack?
Anyway as already stated by HendersonMike every time you plug your MagicJack back in it is like reinstalling everything, actually to the horror of some folks that have modified the way MagicJack behaves and looks, which is completely scrubbed the very first time MJ reboots.
There is one file (if you use it) that should be backed up and it is your phone book which lives on your MagicJack proper. I have lost it several times because there is some updates and repair utilities that will delete it for you, completely and totally unannounced. Ugh! I believe it is called phonebook.html or something like that.

Thanks again for the info. The phone log and call list were what I thought the two files which use the Magicjack dial up logo for a symbol were in. So the list is someplace else, I will have to add that to my special backups. It is good to know that the Magicjack can be moved from one computer to another as my son and I could not find any information about this till you good people came up with some of the answers to our questions. Thanks for having a forum.

Yah I tell HendersonMike, if you have a lot of info in it and lose it really hurts.
There is no easy way to recover and hand entering it is a real pain in the behind. Although there is a post by Stewart that has a template for Excel. You enter the information into Excel and it will save it as an HTML in MJ format.

HendersonMike,
The file is AddressBook.xml, and is located in the MagicJack directory of the USB drive (not the CD-ROM) drive that is installed as part of MagicJack. The MagicJack directory is hidden, so if you cannot see it, you may need to go into windows explorer, go to the Tools|Folder Options Menu. On the View tab, check the "View hidden files and folders" radio button. It is in the section called "Hidden Files and Folders" (for XP anyway.)
