Window vista and OneCare Firewall

Post by jaisejames »

Hello,

I have installed MJ successfully and I can make and recive the call. However, If I make a call with Firewall being on my local PC< People canot hear me. The only way it is currently working is if I shut down the software firewall. I have enabled jsut port 5060-5070, 80 and 443 with no success. I find this to be a very dangerous solution. Is there a way, I can turn my firewall back on and it will still work on.

I found that there is no number listed for technical support on MJ site, neither can we contact them with Email or via text messaging. This is outrageous....

MJ works great with window firewall. If you search the forum you will find other firewalls that users have had success with.

Hello mphixson

I have the exact same machine, However mY MJ will not work correctly if the Firewall is turned on. No one care hear me with the Firewall on. With firewall down, it works fine. Do you know if you have any particular firewall setting in your Onecare.

that's funny...when i built this machine i don't remember building two of them..but ok..

firewall shows nothing unusual, just two programs allowed under advanced. allow is checked for magicjack and magicjack usb softphone.

why don't you try this...control panel, classic view, sound..click on recording tab. see that entry for microphone 2-usb device? that's the input to your magicjack, i.e. the mic in the attached phone, click that, and hit properties, then hit level, crank it to 100..then make your phone call. you might try playing with the advanced tab with the exclusive check boxes.
I found that if you crank that level up, you should have no problems...
you can also watch the green bar go up and down if you click and speak into the phone..if it doesn't go up very high, repeat the process again.

i.e. i don't think your firewall has nothing to do with it.
i'm using netgear wireless router behind a verizon dsl modem. the dsl is set as a passthru device. the netgear does all the work..

Hi,

I thought I read an HP machine. I have HO slimline with AMD dual core process. I checked my firewall setting and I did what you mentioned. I still have the problem.

The reason I suspect that it firewall is becuase if I shut the firewall off, it works fine and as soon as I turn it back on, No one can hear me.....

Any other suggestions
