Area Code 867

Post by goldop »

The following is typical of my last 6 days live chat with magicJack:

Maxwell: Hello, how may I help you?
Lyndsay: Hello, You advertise I can call anywhere in USA and Canada. For the past three months I have been able to call area code 867 in Canada. Now for the last six days I cannot call any numbers in Yukon, Canada in area code 867 including the following three numbers: 1-867-993-????, 1- 867-633-????, 1-867-993-???? and 1-867-993-????. These numbers are friends I am trying to call. I can successfully call any other area code in Canada and USA. During the past six days your department has requested me to do the following: 1) Disable firewall and antivirus programs; 2) Format my magicJack; 3) Run Upgrade; 4) Run magicFix; 5) Use different USB port; 6) Use softphone keypad; 7) and every other type of fix has been tried with no improvement. There is nothing wrong with my magicJack. Please understand it is your problem and not mine. Please test phone the numbers yourself to see if there is now access to area code 867. For the past six days you have told me I would receive an email within 24-48 hours from your engineers saying the problem has been fixed. Now six days later I still cannot call area code 867 in Canada.

Maxwell: Please wait while I check that for you

Maxwell: Do you mean that you cannot make calls to Canada?

Lyndsay: Please read my above message completely - I can call any area code in Canada and USA but not areacode 867

Maxwell: Please wait while I check that for you

Lyndsay: There is nothing wrong with my magicJack. Please understand it is your problem and not mine. Please test phone the numbers yourself to see if there is access to area code 867.

Maxwell: May I know the specific state of 867

Lyndsay: Area code 867 is Yukon, Canada.

Lyndsay: next to Alaska

Maxwell: I see.

As you all know this is extremely frustrating and time consuming. Can anybody help?

Thanks
Stewart

Dial e.g. *678*67993xxxx and you should be fine; tested to both Dawson City and Whitehorse.

The normal dialing pattern routes through a path that is indeed broken.

Area Code 867 ... whats up with that

Post by Phileruplease »

I have the same issue ... cannot make outgoing calls within area code 867.

Still remians unresolved.

I think Northwestel has blocked access to MJ users within their area code.

Here's the number for Walmart for anybody who wants to try - 867-667-2652

I tried it with my Vonage and the number works and a friendly female voice will answer

I tried it with my MJ and it did not connect. The number directly stayed dead and with the *67 I got 3 quick beeps and then it went dead.

Nothing wrong with your MJ. It does look like they've blocked MJ up there.

I do not think so. It makes no sense to block incoming calls where you can make money on access fees. I just tried the number from FL, US and dead air only, indeed.

has anyone been able to call yukon - 867 area code?

Post by mtbdave »

I spend a couple hours on chat with tech support tonight and got fed up with trying and changing every option on my computer. Can anyone else verify that they can call 867 area code? (Yukon) - THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

Thanks for checking, I spent 2 hours on chat last might with magicjack, if they could have tested it (I asked them to) then they would have known right away that it was their issue... thanks for your help.

Yes. See article http://it.tmcnet.com/news/2009/11/24/4500278.htm .

The solution is definitely working to the 867 Walmart phone number you provided.
