I was very happy last night at a computer meeting that my area code 937 had opened and that local calls could be made to me. Originally when I signed up the closest area code was 740 . I went thru the setup and put in the new code for my area 937 and in another box a prefis 867 Dayton showed up. I did not know what this prefix number was but since I did not choose it clicked ok and I was told my new number but the area code on it turned out to be 216. I immediately went to the help site and told them the problem and after an hour of haggling they said I would have to pay $10 to change it. I still maintain I did not set up the wrong area code so would not agree. So now I am stuck with a new number and associated with an area code from somewhere else. The girls on the help line were very nice but I dont feel I should pay the 10 dollars when I did not make the mistake.

this also happened to me...complained and they told me I was SOL.
I gave in and went to pay the $10 for a 'new' area code and phone number, but the ordering site is not encrypted and i certainly was not going to give out my CC info so everyone on the internet could see it, lol!
I'm stuck with a crappy area code until they get around to encrypting their ordering site.

You do, but if that gets screwed up on their end, they tell you that it's impossible to change again without getting charged $10.laserjobs wrote:I thought you got 1 area code change free at my.magicjack.com or is that only for long time customers?
Nice little scam they got going, lol!
"Oops, we f***** up, but we can't fix it with out you given us $10 dollars to re-due it."
