No one can hear me.......
I just got my MJ and when I went to use it, no one can hear me. I have turned up the volume on the mic & the speaker, but no luck. Everyone says it's as if I'm not even on the line. I am using Windows XP Pro. And MJ's tech support was no help. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Try this test App. You can test your ring, cid, record your voice, and have it played back to you, etc...
Make sure you close down magicjack via the taskmanager, before running the app.

I am having the same problem here. I am on Vista and use a professional M-audio soundcard (since this is a music production machine). The mic is all the way up. My wife tells me people are constantly complaining that they can not hear her and I would say I get that feedback about 1/2 the time.

I am curious if your pro card installed some drivers that (incorrectly) affect other audio devices. Can you hear the low volume problem with the test app? Does changing the volume setting on the test app help? Does changing any settings on your pro mixer affect the phone volume (it shoudn't)?JoelIrwin wrote:I am having the same problem here. Also, note that when MJ is first started, the outbound volume is limited to a value lower than the max you can set from the MJ menu.
This is a music studio machine and needs to be configured in that way it is to sequence music. I use an M-audio 1010LT. Now it does not have a mic input -- it has 8 RCA jack inputs and an SPDIF input and in the panel I have put all the volumes at max. Now there are eight outputs and those are maxed as well though the master out in the mixer is often kept lower otherwise you get headaches from the studio speakers playing too loud. I would hope that Magic Jack does not assume that all the volumes have to sit on max for someone to hear my talk on the phone.
I went to the software and made sure that the microphone is sitting on max. I had done that before, but apparantly I must have reinstalled majicjack at some point since the contents of its drives were accidentally deleted once. So perhaps that was the reason (since by default, both the speaker and mic start in the middle). We'll see...

JoelIrwin,
Are you sure you want to run magicjack on this machine? If this is a music production machine that you do professional work on, I would think that you wouldn't want to take a chance that anything would go wrong with it, especially crash it to the point where you might be out of operation for a day or two and lose money because of it. Cheap PCs are available on eBay, in some cases for next to nothing. Just my $0.02.

Thanks I get that. I backup my data daily off the hard disk, the software does an auto backup about every 5 minutes, and I have RAID 1 as well -- not to mention I take copies of my critical data and move it offsite in case of disaster (fire, tornado, theft, etc.). I have been using PCs since 1981 before the IBM PC was announced (I used to evaluate technology for Exxon for 23 years) before changing careers. There is nothing in this device in my opinion that can bring down a whole machine. In addition, I am trying to be as green as I can and I don't want to run power on another machine just to use MJ. Heck the whole idea of MJ is to save me money. Someday when unlimited cell calling goes down to say under $50, I will probably get rid of my other phones alltogether. (I don't leave the country often enough to justify an Internet phone just for that).
