Can't install Java. Tried disabling firewalls - didn't work. What to do?

Have you gone to
www.java.com and checked the error messages to see what you can do to overcome the problem? Also, they have the most current version there for download.

What type of machine, operating system, etc, are you trying to install java on?

I finally got the Java installed and operating after going to firefox for the plug-in or add-on. I have a Windows 2000 Pro.
