Beeps mostly on receiving end

Post by jlewis2444 »

Has anyone heard of any fix in the works for those that can here "beeping" sounds on the phone? These sounds are similiar to when one pushes the keys, and are sometimes several in a row. I hear them only rarely, but the receiver of my calls hears them frequently. It's not just an annoying one time beep, either.... it's consistently irregular... several beeps strung together. I've read the posts before with regard to what was causing the problem (the system hears certain voice tones and replicates what it believes is the the digital tone pad?). Others also recommended changing the volume settings, which did not work. But, I also understand that this problem is not uncommon among VoiP providers?

Another problem I'm having is my phone will start ringing, with a "allow????" on the data display. When it receives whatever signal it is to do this, it will not stop ringing until I actually answer the call. Upon answering, I can hear a phone ringing as though I'm calling someone. This type of call never rolls to VM. It seems that the phone will ring all day from this one incoming signal if there's no one there to pick up the phone to disconnect the call. Any thoughts?

 Thanks!

I've never had any issue like that, all my calls have been clear, no background noise, etc.

How are you connected?
What is your system Software?
Do you have any other apps running in the background?
Check your Task Manager, how much CPU & Mem is being used?
What type of phone are you using?
Have you tried using a headset and get the same prob?

Some of these questions will help with others trying to help solve your issue

Here was my discussion about it in the past, as well as previous responses. I was just wondering if anyone heard that it was being remedied. It's not really on my end... more-so on the receiver's end, and it's not just with one party. Others that I have called have heard the same thing.

My provider is Comcast, XP, CPU and memory varies depending upon what else is going on, but right now it runs between 20-ish % up to 40-ish %, but I'm not on the phone right now when the beeps are being heard by the receiver of the call. Also when I am on the phone, I'm really not on the computer, so I would think the applications should be minimal. I already disabled most, if not all, auto updates and such. I'm using a panasonic digital phone, not headphone. The same happens when I use an anolog or digital phone, that doesn't seem to matter.

Thanks for any advice about getting rid of those annoying beeps. I don't use MJ for professional reasons because of that problem. I figure family and friends can deal with it! lol

That is strange.....

Since you said you have tried other phones.....have you tried a headset? If not, you might give it a try...if it works, I'd say you have some prob with your MJ itself. I really don't know, but just something to try in the elimination process.
