Must dial a 1 or 0 to complete this call

Post by chuckc »

Magicjack seems to be fine when I call out of area, but when I call local with the same area code I get a "you must dial a 1 or 0 to complete this call" if I add a 1 to the 10 digit number, I still get the same message.

I bought this so it could be used by my traveling children to call home, and I could call them by dialing a local number. Only problem is that we cannot connect to the home number with out the "you must dial a 1 or 0 to complete this call" message.

Any suggestions or guidance as to where I can go to get help?

Can I change my magicjack phone number as an alternative?

Are you using a mic and headset or are you using a phone...Also, when did you get it?

I just got my MagicJack and I'm having the same problem, I can't call from my 972 area code in Richardson, TX to my Inlaws 972 area code in Mckinney. I get the must dial 0 or 1 message.

are you all dialing the 7 digit or 10 digit phone number.
I think you have to dial the 10 digit number.
I forget that there are still places in the States where you can still get away with just dialing 7 digits.
Try 10 digits and see if you still get the same result.

Problem is also happening between different area codes.

I am calling from area code 702.
Calls to an AT&T POTS line and a VOIP line in area code 817 are getting the dial 1 or 0 message.
Calls to an AT&T cellphone line in 817 area code is going through.
Calls to 469 area code going through. Cingular.
Obviously, I am calling the full 10-digit no. Adding a 1 makes no difference.

Very aggravating. Has been like this since 1/2/08

Just so I understand, it's only calls just to certain area codes?
Except for the 817 where it depends on who the carrier is? Correct?

Is the AT&T cell 817 also located in the same locale as the POTS 817? (ie because it's a cell just want to be sure it's not somewhere elses across the country)

So far, I have noticed the problem with some #s in the 817 area code only. There may be other area codes ith the same problem (see the first post in this topic). The cellphone is physically located in the 817 area.

Sounds like a screwed up dialplan and/or outbound route rule on one of their servers. Do you know which proxy server you are connected to? I would think it would be an easy matter for tech support to fix if you give them your account # and the numbers you are dialing that cause problems.
