Unable to receive calls

Post by smtagl »

I am unable to receive calls on magic jack. But surely I can make calls. Whenever somebody calls me it directly goes to my voice mail and at the same time my magic jack is up and running. No incoming only outgoing. Can somebody tell me the probable cause and remedy of this unusual problem.

What have you already tried to fix it?

I have tried the following:

1. I disabled call forwarding at http://my.magicjack.com
2. Plugged in and Plugged out the device several times.
3. Tried to call my another number using magic jack device and after receiving the call I tried to place the call from the other number back to my magic jack number.
4. I tried MagicFix as well but it shows everything is running perfectly.

Only outgoing is working but no incoming.

It could be crossed w/ another MJ's phone # -- (i.e., 1 # for Vmail, another # for the actual MJ) I have heard of this happening.

I don't know of any way to confirm that this is what has happened to you unless you can somehow watched the Authentication as it happened ... I don't know how to do that.

Did you chg the phone # via the MJ Portal?

Your 2nd note seems to imply you had Call Forwarding on ... were you using it before? Or were you just checking to Portal to make sure it was off?

BTW, have someone w/ another MJ call your MJ # ... to see if it still happens.

I appreciate your interest in my problem.
I have never changed my number. I still have my old first number. I had enabled call forwarding before that is why I have disabled it now. I will surely check with some person having MJ to give me a ring on my MJ number.

What else I can do ? Can i ask MJ support people to look into this matter ?

Good luck getting a response from Tech Support ...

When I last heard of an issue like this (i.e., if the phone #'s being crossed hypothesis is correct) the eventual solution was a MJ phone # change from the Portal. But then that eats your "1 phone # change for free" ... and that is a shame.

Hope that helps.
