Total bandwidth used over MJ

Post by booyah5 »

I'm thinking about getting an MJ for my boyfriend's mom who lives in an area where WDSL is her best value. They call it Wireless DSL, but I think it's really just directional wireless broadband. It's not satellite.

Anyway, her ISP's website says her bandwidth is capped at 2 gigabytes per week. I'm wondering if someone used MJ about an hour per day, what would be the total transfer both ways?

Her other activities are just gmail and perhaps a little youtube. I'm hoping she can use MJ.

As a separate question: the last time I was there, I couldn't get Skype to work with her service. It felt like it was just under borderline working but not close enough. Would this indicate MJ's out of the question?

I'm planning on getting her one, and the next time I was there, I'd bring my MJ over and if it worked, I'd hook her up. If it didn't work, I'd give it to my boyfriend perhaps.

Any thoughts?

Should not be a problem as long as the ping times are acceptable using this service. The G.711 uses about 87.2Kbps in each direction and requires approximately 76MB per hour.
