Thin Client Question regarding DOM Cache and writes

If i have cached my temp variables on my 4 GB DOM and IE runs programs off it
(I am thinking of Streaming video) will it shorten the life of the DOM ?
As i wont commit once i close the browser does it count as a Write at all ?

2)For frequent write situation what kind of drive should i use -
DOM,CF or Micro .
3) Will a micro drive be a good option for streaming situations.
(The write/read speeds for this seem on the slower side on the micro.

1. XP does lots of things in the background. If you are running XPe then you should have the write filter installed which will minimize the writes. If you are running regular XP, then you should consider installing the enhanced write filter (EWF). I have a link in my thin client thread linked in my sig.

2. Out of those 3, a microdrive would be the better option as it doesn't have the write limitations a CF or DOM do.

3. Haven't used one, so I can't really say for sure.

Personally, I can't install the default HP XPe image on my microdrive. It will install, but then complains of a license issue. I probably would have used XPe, but it wouldn't work, so I had to go with full blown XP.

Something to consider.
