I first want to state, Im pretty much a novice when it involves computers and knowledge of them, with that stated here are the issues Im having:
My magicjack wasnt working that well, muffled sound, people sounded like robots, sometimes I could hear the people on the other end and sometimes it worked great. So I contacted magicjack and they gave me the upgrade download, so I downloaded the upgrade and rebooted my computer and then before my magicjack would work I got an error message saying: magicjack is not supported on your version of windows please check magic jack for/ requirements. Detected version: WinNT 4.0 build 1381 service pack 5 [3.0] Which is simply not the case it never did this before Im running windows xp.
So each time I restart my computer I have to run the upgrade and the magic jack will then work.
Now I have read through alot of the helpful topics and set magicjacks priority to high which helped a little and set up the backround which was a couple of other issues that people were having, BUT my main issue is this: everytime my magicjack is connected to my computer it runs really slowwwwww, the i disconnect the magicjack and my computer is fast again. I also read some people talking about disabling firewall? Is this something I should do or just disabling part of firewall, if this is the case please walk me through that because like I said Im not the greatest with computers.
Also isnt harmful to disable firewall because I thught people could take over, Any help would be appreciated, what A wonderful thing you guys set up here! Thanks!

First place to start, update all your drivers, particularly those for your USB ports and audio card.
Second, make sure you're running directx 9.0c. If not, download it from Microsoft and install.
Third, run dxdiag. Though this is a diagnostic program unrelated to MagicJack, some feel it's a necessary step after installing directx9.
Also, and before you try anything else, do you have an antivirus, malware or firewall software installed? If so, try disabling it and see if the MJ works then.

Hey thanks for the info but i need help, I dont know how to update my drivers or I dont know how to tell if im running directx 9.0c. I do have norton 360 installed but Im scared to disable it because I have got spyware onto my computer when it wasnt running is there a way around this? Anymore info would be great thanks!
Unfortunately, I don't have time to give the kind of detailed instructions that would allow a complete novice to do this. Perhaps you can spend a little time on Google learning your way around your computer -- it's really not that hard once you have a basic understanding of how everything works.
For what it's worth, I would never have either the Norton or Symantec anti-virus products on any of machines.
