Dial Out won't work-- Tone stays steady with each key press.

Help, please. My MJ worked fine for 3 months. Now, I cannot dial out with any (tried 3 different) of my phones.

Soft phone dial out is fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you try to unplug the MagicJack device and then plug it back in?

Usually, for a typical phone wiring, some phones will not break through the dial-tone when dialing if the phone wiring is reversed. In your case, the MagicJack device provides the Tip & Ring (Positive & Negative) current to its phone jack through the device's circuitry. It's possible that the device is malfunction thus sending a reversed Tip/Ring to the built-in phone jack so your connected phones could not dial properly. Sometimes, by unplugging & replugging in the device will reset its circuitry and may restore its functionality.

same problem - no dialtone or dialing by telephone

Post by reb177 »

I have the same problem as ogiejim. Phone worked fine for awhile but now I get no dialtone and cannot use the phone to dial. I can dial by softphone then turn the telephone on and the telephone works fine to then converse on. Then to hang up, I have to use "end" on the softphone.
You can try MJ support, but their answer to me was to get a GE cordless phone (!!! --stock swap in the future?---heheh) (I too tried 3 phones). I've tried several times to restart MJ, used MagicFix repeatedly, and I tried several times to unplug MJ----all to no avail.

Anyway, I'm still stuck with the problem. But I don't use MJ a whole lot, but I do use it for my DishTV phone-connect (and it works fine for that).

Any suggestions for solving the phone thing would be appreciated.
