Remember the old BBS days (for anyone that old)? I'm wondering if the quality of the MagicJack service is good enough to run one of the old-time BBS systems off of.
If anyone is able to do this, do tell.
I'm going to try to get it working on a crappy machine thats modem is connected to an ATA using the MJ SIP creds.
I'll give out the phone number if I get it working.
I tried calling BBSes off of a MJ a while back. The best I could do was 1200 baud (remember those days??)
Though I heard if you turn off error correction it may work better. Not sure - haven't tried it myself. Just haven't dug out the instruction manual to find the proper AT command for my modem!
So to answer your question - it isn't really a feasible solution.
BTW - if you want to run your BBS on the Internet, you can do so quite easily. Check out The BBS Corner and the Telnet BBS Guide for details.
