Guest account,administrator account,HELP!

Post by maritzabg »

I love my magic jack so far.Easy to install, sound quality great,I called Peru for cheap, etc. But, I do not know how to have magic jack working while I am logged off the guest account I installed it in.
It was working while logged off before. Now it is not.
I heard about running it as a service. But it sounds really complicated.I am a computer enthusiast, not really computer savvy. My computer has been great so far and I am scared to mess it up.
Do you know of a quick an easy fix that doesnt involve 20 steps?

Step one: Build a stand alone pc:
step two: hook up the Magicjack usb
step three: configure settings
step four: enjoy magicjack at $20/year

What is a stand alone PC?

Post by maritzabg »

Anyway,i deleted my guest account and installed it on the administrator account instead. It worked fine at the beginning. But now it is slowing the Pc down a little bit.
Can somebody explain what did you mean by "build a stand alone PC"?

it means a PC not doing anything else other than the MagicJack program

most of us are getting HP Thin Clients to work with the MagicJack.

Look at the main index to see all the sections dealing with it.

It's low power, less than 10 watts, all solid state Flash Drives, NO FANS ...
and it can sit alone and just do MagicJack.

OR

you can use an OLD P2 computer you may have in your closet, for MagicJack
(if it has USB of course, - USB1.1 WILL work with MagicJack, too.

It's just that a "normal" PC system takes too much power
(usually at least 75 or so watts)
and also has that FAN noise to deal with...
but it will also work...
if you don't mind running the electricity up a bit.

I use a 667 mhz pc with 256 mb ram and use TightVNC to connect through remote desktop! I live in apt. where all utilities are paid, so electric is not an issue!
