Friday at 8:37PM EST. Is MJ up?

Post by MagicJacked »

I am in a hotel and my MJ is not connecting.
Just wondering if the hotel sucks or not.

Thanks.

Mine is not working either. When I double click I get this message:
We are currently performing system maintanace. New Registrations will be unavailable until 9:00 PM EST. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
My MJ is already registered. See what happens at 9PM

My 911 info is now green with my home address. But no phone number or service yet.
Notice they say 9PM but don't say what day!

I turned on my PC and when MagicJack started it told me to register again...

Then it didn't connect or show my number... I panicked!.

At least now I know I'm not alone.

Mine is dead (error 400) as well in area code 202('')
I guess some proxy locations are working, while others are malfunctioning.
Let's see if all functions are up when I wake up.('')

It appears that the SIP passwords were changed (to 20 characters) for all accounts that still had the old 4-digit passwords. Unfortunately, the provisioning server was not supplying the new data. That has been fixed; if you restart your MJ the 401 errors should be gone. Sorry, I know nothing about the 400 errors; you might try logging into http://my.magicjack.com/ and making sure your account is still present and valid.

That is good to have more than 4 digit passwords. Let's see - how do we change passwords? I think when we called our number there was an option.

When I first started, I put in lots of digits and only 4 were selected for the password. I did not know which digits were used - tech support got me going.

Stewart is talking about the SIP password not the Voicemail password

Mine is finally working!

What could have happened?... you know, it wouldn't hurt if they had a "bulletin board" with regular updates on outages and stuff like that... I freaked out yesterday, I thought my device was damaged!.

Mine is now working in 410 area.

Really sad you need a third party forum to get help or info.
MJ really needs a status page.
And why not put useful info the the left third on the MJ app?

So does this mean that they can change our passwords whenever they want?
That kinda sucks. I mean seems that every time they do a change like this, a lot of people lose service. Imagine how people have MJ who aren't on this forum. Sucks that they have no way of knowing what the heck is going on!

Just in case you were wondering, the change to more characters/digits in the password was not the only thing that was changed.

They are playing around with different proxy servers again as well. Seems they closed off a few of the local ones, at least temporarily.

So, those of you who may be having an issue with your, ahem, alternate devices, should try the newark one and or the nashville one if your access has stopped working.

MJ changed 'your' password?

What password, the SIP password? Is that 'your' password?

My passwords, the ones I created, have not changed...

Could it be that the 'la ot of people lose service' you refer to, are using modifications that are not 'sanctioned' by MJ?

I don't think that is what he meant.

I think he meant that it rather sucks that everytime they go monkeying with the system, the service goes down, and the fact that have no network status page or any other notification about when they plan to do these changes or when they are in progress leaves people completely uninformed as to why their not very magic sometimes jack has stopped working.

Simply put, a complete lack of communication.

I will respectfully disagree... he quoted the SIP password... I will allow my questions to remain...

As for a network status page... have asked for that since last summer... guess they either have technical issues with putting one
up or it is not something they consider important.... IT IS IMPORTANT AND SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED POST HASTE !

As for "other notification"... I did receive an Email 2 hours ago to the effect that the MJ should be restarted.... so if this was a legit Email (and I have no reason at this time to believe it wasn't) I guess they are starting to notify via email... (ANYONE ELSE GET THAT EMAIL?)

Whatever it does, is not apparent. This is what they said about the update:
"There are many enhancements in this new software, to make your magicJack work better. There are also security items built in for the magicJack Network."
I haven't really noticed any changes, but usually, when I have really bogged down the computer, I have to do a re-boot in order for MagicJack to function without a hiccup. I haven't had to do that today. Everything is working just great.

There seems to be problems with outgoing calls.
I've been using Grand Central's web calls to make my "outgoing" calls.
