Making a Thin Client from a Sony Viao
Can you make a Thin Client from a 5 year old Sony Viao using XP. It is our old computer not much hard drive space left, would like any suggestions on how to make this a Thin Client. Thank you
Well it's already a thin cilent:-p Simply plug in your magicjack.. plug in the computer to Ethernet (or wireless) and power... flip it over so it doesn't heat up.. and give it a spot:-p. For disc space 2 options:
A) who cares? just plug in your magicjack and use it
B) get a new hard drive

c) reformat the hard drive/remove unnecessary stuff from the hard drive.

700mHz Compaq IPAQ Headless
I been running a 700mHz Compaq IPAQ, running headless, for my local test server, accessing it with VNC.
I've been using MJ on my 8 year old Vaio laptop (again about 700mHz), exclusively, but the thing I don't like about the laptop is the constant fan noise. The IPAQ is nearly silent.
I've been resisting the urge to migrate MJ over to the IPAQ because I'm afraid of interfering with my test server. Or finding that activity on it (IIS or the SQL Server on it) would cause it to interfere with clear calls on the phone. (That's why I use the old laptop, nothing else going on on it).
Since 700mHz IPAQs are so cheap these days I'm thinking about getting another one and using it instead of the laptop. Headless and VNC'd, like the other. Anybody see any issues with using it that way?
The other issue is that the package MJ came in said it was compatible with XP or Vista. I'm using XP on the laptop but 2000 on the IPAQ. I read somewhere else on this board that someone was using W2k. Is it still compatible, in spite of what the box says?
