Critical mandatory upgrade?

Post by Xen1969 »

Anyone else get this e-mail today or just me? I'd unplugged my MagicJack for about a day and this showed up today. I wasn't sure if it was to everyone or MagicJack knows I unplugged it. Just me or this sounds like a junior high student wrote it (no offense to Kumar) ? I actually looked at the header to see if this really came from MagicJack.
-------------------------------------------------

Mandatory upgrade-please restart your Softphone(LCD Keypad)-Critical

FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, with Pictures, BELOW !!!!

In order for magicJack to provide you the best service possible, you must restart your softphone (LCD Keypad) now. If you do not, your MagicJack will shut down until you restart it or plug it back in again. There are many enhancements in this new software, to make your magicJack work better. There are also security items built in for the magicJack Network.

Please upgrade immediately.

I was in the midst of trying to find out why I couldn't dial out, and I got a notice to download an upgrade. I installed it, and I GUESS it was totally installed. (There was no notice that the upgrade was performed successfully.) But I still can't dial out even with the upgrade.

Was it an email or a pop-up from the softphone?

I've unplugged and replugged my MJ in several times, also restarted from the advance user menu - since no message. Though it doesn't tell me how Lucky I am anymore like it used too.

Guess I'm not lucky anymore!

Me too, but mine said I was still lucky while the upgrade was installing!

Hmmm. Now when I reboot and MJ loads I get the error message #3 that says I have to connect to the Internet and double-click to re-load MJ. I am connected, however, even though it says I'm not.

are you running the spoofer? if so might need to "apply changes" again and/or restart MJ

I unplug my MJ every time I shut my computer down, and have never received such a notice.

I never get the "Lucky' message either. Am I lucky, or unlucky?
