trouble

Post by kpncr »

My MagicJack® worked fine for a short while, but now when I plug in the doggle to make a call, the MJ program does not recognise that it is plugged in. If I were to click on the MJ icon it would say "Warning must plug MJ into USB port" (or something like that). But, my MJ is plugged into the port. I've tried all four USB ports on my computer with other devices (eg. jumpdrives, an MP3 player, a digital camera) and they all are functioning properly. So it is not my computer's USB ports.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what the problem could be?
Or shall I simply conclude that MagicJack® is really not-so-magical junk?

If you were looking for solutions, I suspect you would have posted to the Tech. Support section. Or, even browse it to find existing threads.[1]

Since you felt like ranting, try the Rants and Raves section.

cybertek7 from another thread wrote:Warning: You must plug magicJack into USB

Follow the steps below:

1. Unplug the MajicJack Dongle from the USB port.

2. Delete the mjusbsp folder under: <Drive letter>:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\

3. Load Regedit and delete the following registry key entry located under the following registry key path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR\Disk&Ven_YMAX&PROD_MagicJack&Rev_2.00\7&31f04563&0&A921031

4. Exit the Regedit utility.

5. Plug the MajicJack Dongle back into the USB port.

6. Run the UPGRADE.EXE program from MajicJack.
Can you 'splain the meaning of "Load Regedit"?

You're quite helpful, Mark.

I think the admin should give you a free magicJack for all the help you provide to us.

what does his actions have anything to do with anyone else in arizona? I suppose this is the type of thinking that gets stereotypes and prejudism started...
"Load regedit" means go to start menu, click run, then type regedit, and press enter.
