Text messaging option

Post by blumonde »

It would be nice if MJ came with it. I can save money on international text messages with MJ's international rates. AT&T is charging me 50-cent per intl. message and it is not even working due to either delaying or lost in space.

Skype has this option but didn't seem to work either.

Does anyone know a website that can send SMS messages like a cellphone but at affordable rates?

Tks in advance. :)

I tried it before. Below is a requirement for cellphones in Mexico:

"For Telcel users to receive messages from Gizmo SMS, they must enable Internet messaging"

It doesn't work like a regular cellphone.

Tks anyway.

I can send text to my cell phone by sending emails from my email application.
Check out to see if you can. I have to use the phone [email protected] to get it to work.
Some providers do not allow this.

I send international text messages and they don't work that way. Thanks for the suggestion.

Send SMS with Gmail

If you have a Gmail account, you can send SMS messages for free. I've tried it and it works good.

When you go to settings> Labs> the setting for Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat is the 28th option. it works well with texting to cellular phones. Let us know how it works for you.. :D After you have enabled it, go into your mailbox and when you mouse over a contact, go to "Video & More" and one of the choices is the SMS Texting.

Chikka is a great program for this. I've used it for the last 2 years. You can download their software or once you have registered, just go to their website and send texts after signing in (handy for internet cafe's). I use the software from home since I like to keep texts sent and just send from their website if I am at a library or cafe. I talk to my girlfriend overseas from the US all the time and also send texts to people in the US. The website lists the countries that work. I've never had a need to pay anything since I text to the a cellphone in the Philippines (no charge for them to receive texts there) and cellphones stateside.
