Making it simple

After messing with the MJ for a couple of weeks or so trying to get it to work in an exceptable manner....

I did all kinds of port tricks (forwarding and triggering) with the Linksys WRTP54G LAN router and finally after reading these forums for 2-3 days... did this:

Installed XP Pro sp2 on a old Gateway P3 868mhz computer with 512 RAM. I did a "selective" critical updates without installing sp3 or IE7 or .NET or anything else. XP had all the native drivers for everything.
I did install AVG8 without the spyware modules and stuff. I am using the Windows firewall. I disabled File and Print sharing on the PC (I have 4 PCs on my LAN).
Undid all the port forwarding/triggering mess I played with in my router.
Then assigned a static IP to the PC and set that IP as DMZ (totally open) within the router's configuration. Rebooted the Modem, the router, all PCs. That's it.

I have done a few calls and it is MUCH improved! No braking up etc. that I was experiencing.
I think the simplicity of everything and having a dedicated PC is the key? I could be wrong, but so far so good. (fingers crossed)
