To all computer gurus, do you know why when I plug my AC cord to my laptop, the caller id only shows on the softphone when someone calls but it is not showing on the physical phone, but when the power cord is not plug in to my laptop, I see the caller id both on my softphone and physical phone. Did anybody had that problem? I have an IBM laptop, the battery name is IBM-02k7028 and my power cord is an IBM model as well. I tried to plug the magicjack to a different usb port but same thing, tried to plug the AC adapter to a power surge but same thing.
If anybody could help me out with this, that will be appreciated. I already chat with magicjack technician but the technician escalated the problem to the experts technicians and I do not know when I will hear from them.
Please if anyone has that issue before and now resolved it, please let me know. Thanks!

the only suggest I have is maybe try a dsl line filter between MJ & your phone. you might be getting some interference or something
I will try this but i have cable not dsl and i am using a wireless card upstairs to have access to the internet, so the dsl adapter wont be conflicted with the cable?
It sounds like your laptop power supply generates too much interference that during the ringing cycle, the CID info is distorted. Have you tried to install a 100K resistor between the phone line to see if it fixes the problem.
By installing the 100K resistor to the phone line, it reduces noise to the phone line so that CID signal is easily read by physical phones. This trick works great for my MJ device. Give it a try.
Likemagic, I will try this but it seems that the part of cutting up the phone line to switch the wires looks complicatated, can you give me a more easy steps to go around it, I do not want to mess up something...Do you think I should that the usb hub first like pracjack did?

Understand.
The DSL filter is going to filter out interference. Originally created for people with DSL but many people who have VOIP have found it to help also, though I'm not sure it would help in your situation - couldn't hurt though. I know it's helped people with other VOIP with their tivo & direct-tv call-in - though that has nothgin to do with your issue
I will try and buy the powered usb hub first like pracjack did, it seems it works for him cause I think my problem is a lil bit more closer to what he had experience. In fact, I think the problem is both usb ports in my laptop and the ac adapter in my laptop as well are both hungry for power when they are plug in all the same time...So i will try powered them with a usb powered hub..Finger cross...
