Install problem
New MJ user. Installed on desktop hard wired to wireless router, no problems. Plugged into laptop directly and it tried install, but I got an error that some part of the install didn't go correctly and devices may not work properly. Now when I plug it in the mouse blinks like it is thinking and then nothing. Tech support had me try all three ports with the same effect. Tried the upgrade as well with no success. They blamed it on Norton and had no solution. I have the same Norton on the desktop with no problems. Tech support suggested a powered USB hub. Same thing with it. Tried reformatting the device and that succeeded. But when I try and run the upgrade program it says I must insert the device. It is already in the powered USB port. What do I try next?
These are just thoughts.
First if you can get rid of all of the other USB devices.
If you can get a PS/2 mouse and keyboard maybe see if a friend has one.
Then plug the MagicJack directly into the computer.
If that works start plugging the USB devices back in 1 at a time.
This might help to identify if the problem is with the MagicJack or the computer itself.
Like I said it's just a thought.

I have more or less the same problem - no solution yet
I have a HP laptop running XP pro SP2 hard wired to my router. Tried for 3 hours with MJ techs to get it to work. Nothing worked. Sounds like the techs had me go through the same thing they had you run through. When I ran the upgrade program it said that the MJ was not plugged in. Only one MJ drive showed up on my computer and under the device manager indicated that there was a problem with the device. Same problem with all the USB ports and no other devices connected to the USBs except the MJ. A second MJ responded the same way. There must be some type of conflict what what? Any suggestions on how to resolve conflicts of this nature. I don't Nero. I removed the CD/DVD from the computer with no change.
