No one can hear me!

Post by RedBank »

On any calls, I get a clear, loud sound from the person on the other end; however, they can't hear me at all. I've switched phones and changed from a USB port to a powered USB hub. I have no idea what else to try.

Any advice would be appreciated. TIA

Thanks for saying what you've already tried.

Did you go into the softphone's "menu->Volume/Headset control". I don't know if this controls handsets. But, I've seen my mic volume get set low for no reason.

Have you tried using the softphone with a headset? (disconnect the handset). That would help isolate whether it's MJ or a USB/handset problem.

One more thing to try - when you switched phones did you try a corded phone?

Thanks for the advice. Nothing worked. I did deal with a Tech Support, who said he "cleared some errors off the line." Now, someone knows I am on the other end of the line but cannot hear anything but some indistinct human-like noises. I guess I have to write this off -- but I appreciate the help.

Don't give up yet. There is help on this forum. Use the Echo Back number (909-390-0003) to test your changes. It will echo back anything you say so you don't have to annoy your friends as you sort this problem. If you don't hear an echo back then your call recipients can't hear you yet.
Try different usb ports.
Try a powered usb hub if you can borrow one, it seems to work very well with many situations like yours.
Try a headset or a different phone.
Keep trying and searching the forum. Try the wiki that az2008 has begun.
These problems are almost all resolvable. Good luck.

I'll give the echo back a try. At least it may give me some information that I don't have now. I've tried everything else, but I REALLY appreciate the suggestions.
