Need to dial a number 5 to 8 time before call get connected
Hi All it have been like 2 day that when i pick up the phone and hear the tone, i dial the nomber and after i finish dialing the number the i just hear the tone again. When i do this i see the softphone on the pc that say trying but in less that a sec it just go back to ready.. so i have to keep trying and trying before i can call.. any help on this?????
If it were me, I'd probably start by disconnecting the handset and making a call using the softphone and a headset. Make sure it's not something about the handset, USB port, etc.
If you still have the problem, I would try changing the proxy MJ connects to. Maybe it's a problem with that proxy. See http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack/ ... y_proxy.3F

See the wiki FAQ. The answer to how to find/change your proxy explains how to get the current list of proxies. (You have to pmdump your magicjack and look for a line that contains all of them.).gavilaso wrote:is there is any proxy list that i can check and change the proxy and try them????
The last time I actually looked for all of them I got the following. But, it could be better to actually get the fresh list as described in the wiki FAQ. I considered putting this list in the FAQ answer. But, then someone would have to keep it up to date. I thought it would be better to just tell people how to get the absolutely accurate list out of their own softphone.

Does it happen with all numbers you call, or just one? Have you tried calling the special echo-test number (see the wiki FAQ about how to make calls without bothering anyone)?gavilaso wrote:well so far i have try 5 of them. the first time i dial a number it work fine but after that it keep that same problem
Did you try bypassing your router, connecting directly to the modem (this could expose you to hacking etc. if you don't have a software firewall, and/or do it for too long)?
Did you try the "*" trick (described on the wiki FAQ in "why can't I call some numbers")?

I don't understand that. But, if you know what you're doing it's fine by me.gavilaso wrote:also i'm testing it on my iphone... because there is no way i can change the proxy on the mj softphone in my PC..

Hmm. You left that part out. Do you think it's possible MJ terminated your service for violation of the ToS?gavilaso wrote:LoL ok on my iphone i have a softphone program, I was able to get the sip information of my MJ and put it on my iphone softphone program.. withe username and password and the proxy server... so on my iphone im just changing the proxy server and testing it..
They've been reported to do that in the past.
I would suggest going back to plain vanilla (the MJ softphone) and follow the proxy-change instructions until you get the problem resolved.

I have a better appreciation for why MJ doesn't want people using their credentials in unknown ways. It sounds like you wasted their time trying to get support without disclosing "the rest of the story."gavilaso wrote:LoL yes it look like after search for help with them without mention the iphone stuff they change my MJ password... well the change of the proxy in the mj softphone in my pc is not working at all
But, MJ support wastes a lot of everyone else's time. So, I guess all's fair in love and war.

Well that is the only way i can try the a different proxy because the proxy block in dos is not working on my PC i'm still getting connected to the same server... any other idea of what i can try?
I forgot to mention, it look like the problem is in the afternoon because when i use it in the morning i don't have that problem.. so i guest that the server is getting bussy or i don't know.....

You're using the route command to block access to the proxy server? And it doesn't? Which OS do you use? Which IP address did you try?gavilaso wrote:Well that is the only way i can try the a different proxy because the proxy block in dos is not working on my PC i'm still getting connected to the same server... any other idea of what i can try?

I have the same problem... Calls do not complete, just go back to dial tone, doesn't matter if I'm calling Canadian, cellular, or American numbers. I doesn't matter if I use the handset telephone or the softphone.
As soon as I restart my computer, it works again.
I don't now what this has to do with proxies, but I listed all the proxy servers in my hosts file.

Which doesn't do anything, because the softphone accesses the proxies by IP address.couch-potato wrote:I don't now what this has to do with proxies, but I listed all the proxy servers in my hosts file.
