Re:USB Stick
Looks like it is already on a USB stick with the added bonus you can plug a real phone into the jack.
Why oh Why would you want to migrate to a usb stick since the MJ folks have already packaged one for you???
Still wondering what benefit would accrue????

I'm guessing here, but are you thinking of buying one MJ then cloning it onto usb sticks and using your one subscription on multiple PCs?colin12 wrote:Can I put it on a usb stick and use it on any pc with a high speed connection ...

That seemed harsh. I thought it was a valid question. MJ isn't just a USB drive. You get a lot more with it.xxM5xx wrote:...and you expect us to believe you graduated from A+, Net+, Security+, MCP, MCSA, MCSE school ?? Must be a different mindset in Canada.
I can understand that someone might want just a normal flash drive, containing the mjusbsp directory, etc.
That should be possible. A person would have to create their own script to regedit and add the required MJ registry entries. Then execute magicjack.exe as described on the wiki FAQ (how to bypass the splash screen). And, a shutdown script (as described there too) which would regedit and delete the registry entries (assuming he wants to use it on any computer and not leave a lot of personal info all over the place, like his serial number).
It wouldn't be easy. But, it might be a fun project for those inclined to do things like this. It would be like the "dongless" hack, but a way to create and delete the registry entries?

I suspect having multiple cloned devices plugged in to different computers at the same time would cause the account to be terminated pretty quickly … however … I do think it might sometimes be convenient to have a copy of MJ on the USB drive I carry on my keyring … although it is portable, the MJ device isn't pocket friendly.
If I get some time I'm going to try it. It sounds like it would be the "dongleless" how-to, but stored on a USB drive. And, the exit-softphone how-to.EasyCheese wrote:I do think it might sometimes be convenient to have a copy of MJ on the USB drive I carry on my keyring
The big question would be a script to add (and remove) the registry branch(es) required by MJ. I don't know how how much stuff that would be. If there was a way to compare the registry before and after installing MJ, I think that would make it conclusive.
