What BIOS version are you guys using for 5710?

Post by noetic1 »

My 5710 has the stock BIOS version 786R2 v1.00 and I'm thinking about flashing it to the latest version.

However, I'm confused as to which is the latest version. Can someone confirm which of the following versions is the latest?

Version: 1.08 A (24 Feb 2005), sp29573.exe (2.0 MB)
Version: 1.02 A (18 Apr 2005), sp29530.exe (1.7 MB)

Does version 1.08A also have the updates from version 1.02A?

Since you have Rev2, you can update to 1.02A.

Thanks newtoncd,
I was so focused on the dates that I totally missed that in the description.

I just reflashed the BIOS and all looks good and I am now at 786R2 v1.02.

The file download from HP has 3 methods built-in for flashing the BIOS.

I used the WFlash method. It's a Windows-based utility to locally update the system BIOS on individual computers operating in a Microsoft Windows environment.

For the WFlash method you just click on the .exe file and it will start the WFlash application. You then load the BIOS file from the same folder the WFlash .exe file was in and then click on Flash BIOS.
