Still no dial tone, Please help.

Post by Jenny »

Ok, this has consumed my whole day trying to figure out what to do.
I have read where almost all of you plugged in your little magicjacks into a usb port waited a few mins and was making calls instantly.

I am still waiting on an dial tone (Minus the 1950 rotary phone! )
I've tried it on one corded phone with and without the ex cord
3 different cordless phones

And my 911 code thing is still yellow too. I almost wished I hadn't purchased this now, but am still hopefull as well! Has any of you went through this and know what to do?
If I am using it on my computer screen, (talking to someone) - if I have the phone that doesn't work UP, then hang it up, THEN magicjack seems to recognize it then! Because it'll cut me and who ever I'm talking to OFF. So I am soooo confused and disappointed.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated! I'm not too computer savy, so I really don't know what to do except for what YOU tell me to do. Thanks to the ones thats already tried to help me on the other thread! (Just wanted to make a new one in case someone else had the same problem, they could navagate to this one simply.)

The only really old cord I have, is the curly part that connects the phone and the part you hold and talk into, and it's way too small to fit into todays phone jack openings. I tried that earlier today. Thanks! Keep thinking for me,lol

I keep thinking it has something to do with my settings, because magicjack will pop up on top of all apps that I have up when I pick up the phone I can't get a dial tone on OR when I lay it back down on the hook.
Do you think I should just uninstall everything and start over? Reckon that'd help?

Jenny,

Not all failures have to be configuration or software related, you may just have been unlucky and received a defective unit. I believe they will send you a new one prior to returning the old one. I have even heard some folks say they don't seem real concerned about getting the old one back but either way I would give that a try. As you said in your post 99 percent of the folks get it, plug it in and start talking. No reason you should not have the same experience. Life is too short to spend a lot of time trying to fix something that probably has a manufacturing cost of less then $12 rupees.

Go for a new one.

What type of Internet connection do you have? And a couple of times I have picked up my phone to no dial tone, brought my internet up and presto, there was the tone. Remember you have to have an active connection. Sorry to say that but sometimes its little things that cause the problems. Also have you tried removing the Magicjack and plugging it back in?
