Audio qualiity bad on one end only.

I have read the problems with audio jitters and so on. My problem is audio but only the audio that is on my end (recieving). The people that I have talked with over the MJ say they can hear me fine with very little to no audio jitter or studder. My download speed is around 1mb and the upload around 130 - 180 Kbps. Wouldn't the download speed affect what I hear and the upload speed would affect what the other person would hear? I am new to all of this, so go easy on me if this post is not in the right place or there are other problems. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The wiki FAQ contains instructions for diagnosing it. (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/MagicJack/ ... 9_voice.3F). You might try that and report back what helped or didn't help, and the network quality information you'll obtain there.

Your upload speed is just barely fast enough for MJ. Just one browser refresh, or a little spam-bot/spyware in the background and it could interfere with MJ's traffic.

I would think that would be manifested in what the other person hears, not what you hear. But, it may not work like that as a rule.

BTW: If you're using a handset, you should try disconnecting it from the USB device and try a call using the softphone with a headset. If the choppiness is specific to using a handset, there's another possible solution.

It's described here: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/try- ... t4371.html. But, beware that it will make your computer less energy efficient, and drain the battery faster. If that doesn't make a difference, you should reverse the change.
