I could really use some help

Post by drmchaser »

We recently got a magic jack and when the phone rings, it gives 1 really long ring and when I go to pick up, it is still ringing on the other end, then when it stops I can't always hear anyone on the other end and have to call them back. When I do have someone on the phone, their voice is often distorted and sounds like a cell phone breaking up. It doesn't matter if I call cells or landlines. Can someone please help me?

Regarding the choppy voice, see the wiki FAQ for that topic.

Regarding the long ring, it could be related to some causes of choppy voice (like poor network conditions, congestion, or the MJ proxy server). Those are covered in that topic.

But, out of curiosity, if you use a Linksys router, which model is it?

I am wondering if he is using a telephone that was designed to be used in North America. This sounds suspiciously like a situation where the MJ was carried to Europe and is being used with a European telephone instrument.
