Fading in and out

I am technologically hadicapped so bear with me.
If I knew the proper term I may have even tried the search function.

Heres the deal, If I can get the Majic Jack to work it would save me a pile of $$ and make my life a lot easier.

The problem I have is it fades in and out really badly (to the point the wife wants the Skype phone back on.)

I have windows Vista and did do the Vista download.
It is also on a wireless linksys router model # wrt546 2.4 ghz

If you're talking about "choppy, garbled, robotic" voice, not fading out for a few seconds, the wiki FAQ contains an answer to that problem, with a how-to to diagnose it.

Lately there have been a lot of complaints about choppy voice. MJ's service has deteriorated over the past 2-4 weeks. So, the part in that how-to concerning changing proxies may be the more important topic (or, just wait a few weeks to see if MJ's server improves).

If you're talking about fading out for a few seconds, not one-second fade outs (which people call choppy voice), I don't have any suggestions for that.

Thanks for the info and the Wiki site.
I did fail to mention I was using a cordless phome 5.4 ghz.
I have plugged in a "regular" phone and it seems to be acting much better. I will try a longer call shortly...any volunteers
