outbound 3 way calling possible?

Post by A50SNAKE »

Hi all i am fairly new to the MJ and I just found your site and i am glad i did. I read on the MJ site that you have 3 way calling inbound, meaning 2 other people call my MJ, but can i do 3 way calling outbound, meaning i can call two other people and conf them together with me?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

I don't know the answer to your question (though I suspect the answer is no), but the following service may meet your needs. This lets you make free conference calls with up to 5 people from any phone (not just MJ) for up to 30 minutes per day. All phone numbers involved must be in the US.

thanks robatino, i am in canada so i guess this won't work either...i looked around the forums here and noticed a lot of people asking the same thing, but the answer sadly seems to be only inbound 3 way...oh well, i would give it an 8-9 out of 10 then...its close to perfect, but not quite there yet...but i am still very happy with my purchase...

If you get yourself a free Washington state phone number from ipkall.com, and associate it with an existing SIP account, you can receive incoming calls to that number. You can combine that ability with the above service to make the conference calls for free (or use the dukaDIAL service at the same site to make unlimited calls to any single US number at a time). It's a little awkward, but doable, and completely free (though the other phone numbers still have to be in the US, so this is still probably of limited use to you).

You're right, sadly it's only inbound 3way calling. And that service WILL work for Canadians, too. It's for ALL people living in North America. They also have dukadial, which could aid you in making calls inbound to your magicjack so you can join them together.

Dukadial was recently restricted to the US only. Previously it was North America. The dukadial page still refers to North America but the page's text now refers to the US.

For more information, you may try doing a search for "Easter Egg" in the forum. It seems to me, if you clicked on two different numbers, one right after the other, you could connect to them simultaneously. I tried it after it was reported as an undocumented feature, and it seemed to work.

That was a while ago and I don't really have the need for it, but good luck.

EDIT: Here you go. Found it quicker than I thought.

Don't hold your breath..... Tech support says everything is being worked on 'by the engineers" or "try again in 24 hours."

Nope. I suppose you could use magicjacks new conference calling website.

Or get someone to call you (incoming)
then connect the next person by initiating a call from google voice (incoming, google rings your phone then connects you)

That way they are both incoming calls, and thus can be joined together into a 3way call. Other then little tricks like that, I have no idea how to do it. I'd love to find out, though.
