Verify your login ?

Hi ... For some reason now when ever I plug my magicjack in my computer I have to enter the registration part >> Verify your login

Why it that ?

I also downloaded the latest upgrade software .

Do you have some utilty running that might be preventing MJ from writing entries in your Registry? If MJ cannot read these entries when it starts up the next time it could behave like this.

Here is my somewhat paranoid slant on your problem. I have one MJ unit that I use for setting up Thin Clients.

That unit does the same thing as yours except it does not do it every time I plug it in but maybe 1 out of six times.

I just made an assumption that I ran over some threshold MJ has set on their servers for the a unit that get plugged into a lot of different computers and let it go at that. If it was every time like yours I might get a little more excited about it.

In any case do you use yours on a lot of different computers? If you do we may have hit on an MJ security check to make sure someone has not figured a way to clone their product... just my paranoid two cents.

Well I have 2 MJ and the other one works fine on this computer . The MJ which is giving me problems I have only used on 2 other computers but they are on the same network ( router ) at my place ...

If there is any validity to my paranoia, they are watching the number of computers it gets plugged into not the IP of origin. i.e. Clone fifty units and put them in one office, now that would make MJ very unhappy.

I think your paranoia might be getting the best of you this time. Cloning an MJ is not viable because you still cannot use more than one at any time. MJ's SIP server will detect multiple simultaneous registration and/or use and block the account, regardless of whether the overuse comes from one or more device or one or more IP address.

There could very well be a different security threshold tripped here, though. If you move the MJ from one PC to another very often, MJ could simply be verifying that the MJ hasn't been stolen from you.

That's my conspiracy theory, and I'm sticking with it.

I agree with you completely and your story stands up under logic. Mine unfortunately is as you said not viable because the first time two came online at the same time one or both would get a "Silver Bullet".

Actually I meant to say what you said - just got distracted. Want to buy some swamp land?

Whatever the reason might be its really odd for no apparent reason it just started doing this and for now on I have to verify the login part everytime

And just to keep the pot stirred, the unit I use for configuring Thin Clients only does it about once in ever four to six insertion. I have another MJ that I use for my personal use and it has only done it once and that was the first time I plugged it into another machine.

Where else can you find this much entrainment for only $20 bucks a year.

Part of MJ's advertisement should be "Never pay a monthly bill or be without something to attempt repair ever again".

Don't say that too loud. If you admit you're getting entertainment value on top of telephone service, they'll just raise the price.

I want to report that I too am getting this message every time I start MagicJack. I have only 1 MagicJack that I use on just 1 computer. I never used it in any other computer.

As an added note, I just received my MagicJack 2 days ago from the main Magicjack web site that sells them so I am sure it's the latest hardware out there.

My MagicJack updated the firmware the first time I used it so I know that's up to date.
