hi i have a linksys wireless router and a laptop
i dont want the phone connected to my laptop at all times
bec the phone will not work if my laptop is off and it cant be on for the whole day
any suggestions?
need suggetion for mj away from my laptop

Do you have any other computers on the network? You need a computer running XP or Vista to be on to make and receive phone calls. Your number will continue to receive calls, but they are forwarded to your voice mail. There really isn't any other way around that yet using the MJ. Eventually they will offer BYOD, at that time you will be able to use an ATA rather than having to use your computer. I hope this answers your question.

Whoops...I don't believe the MagicJack will actually forward your calls to the MagicJack voice mail unless your computer is on. You have to forward your number to another phone with voice mail, if your computer is not running.
I think I tested this, and it no worky. Get a GrandCentral number and forward your MJ number there for voice mail for when your computer is off.
