Incoming Calls Not Forwarding to Voice Mail

Post by digitalnomad »

My incoming calls are not being picked up and forwarded when my computer is off. Tech Chat says that they can check the "path" from their end, but it still is not working.

I also am unable to call my MJ number and access any features, listen to vm, change password, no prompts, etc. When I call from another landline, I get a fast busy tone, and no answer and no recording. Any known fix would be much appreciated.

@ Curiousgeorge-

Thanks, but this does not compute. I am talking about people calling my MagicJack number when my computer is off, or dialing
my MagicJack number from another telephone, not calling out from my MJ to pick up voice mail. However, I will mix it up and see what happens.

If you call your MJ number from multiple sources (landlines, cellphones) and they receive the same treatment, then the issue is at MagicJack call server. Incoming calls to your MJ number, NPA-NXX-XXXX, is handled by the MJ call server.

Yeah, I know. You should see the crazy Tech Chat I had. Support kept asking if I had a firewall, or if I could make calls. I kept saying what the heck does that have to do with incoming calls when my computer is not even powered up?

Yup, I chatted with MJ CS a few times and they're just reading from their "cheat sheets" for resolution. They are not technical at all. Maybe some of them are but I haven't had the pleasure chatting with one yet

The problem is at their Network Operations Center. I've never had to talk to CS at MJ...knock on wood...Do they have different tiers of customer service or just level 1 CS droids?

It is at least 2 tier, if you can believe. Tech Chat told me they would have to check with an engineer, but that could be blue smoke, wishful thinking, or a way to blow off customers.

Or they really do need to kick it up to an engineer because they have no clue what else to do for you...it could happen!
