Somewhat unusual difficulties, help requested please

Hello All
I’m new and would be grateful for anyone willing to read and help with my problem/situation.
I was given 2 MJ’s by a friend whom had them given to him, they appear to look very new in condition.
A few days ago I got in a chat session with MJ rep., at which time I somewhat installed one of the MJ’s on my computer during my chat sessions (it did some sort of an upgrade when installing)
During the chat sessions when I was ALMOST COMPLETE with the registration process I ASK the MJ rep would I get a 30day free trial ...

(PLEASE NOTE; at the onset of my chat I advised the MJ rep that the 2 MJ’s had been given to me and the person whom gave them to me was NOT the person who order them to start with as they were given to him and I had them now for about 4-5 weeks …)

I was advised by the rep the following ….
(1) the 30 day trial would of began when the MJ’s I had were originally order
(2) Unless I had the original Order # or the name of the person who originally order them that I could not transfer the MJ’s to my name and billing would go to the original person whom ordered them … I was shocked!
I AGAIN ADVISED the rep I did not know who had the MJ’s that were given to me

or even if they had EVER BEEN USED OR REGISTERED.

Well fortunately I had not fished the registration process and had not completed the SET UP… Oh My Gosh like I said I was shocked someone else may get a bill for a service I was wanting for myself

Dose anyone know how to get MJ’s (I was given a 2 MJ package) set-up in your name if you were not the person who ordered them to start with and do not have the original order number or the name of the person whom ordered them??

I am truly sorry for the long-winded posting but wanted to explain everything so that anyone willing to afford me their time in replying to my request for help would have all the facts up front.

WHy would you get a 30 dya free trial? Would you send them back for a refund of money you haven't spent? If your intent is to pay for the service then go buy new product at Radio Shack or other retailer where you can take item back if it doesn't work for you. The items were given to you by a 2nd party, not even the original purchaser. MJ has no idea who you are. They may even be stolen property in MJ's eyes. They have no way of telling.

Please allow me to address your response in the following respectful manner.
1.) My friend is a disabled Veteran to which it is Highly unlikely that someone passed to him anything stolen. My husband and I have and will continue to do many things for the above mentioned individual and our friend simply gave to us something he thought we might be able to use as he has only has a cell phone and no computer.
2.) I only ask the MJ rep about the 30 day trial as I assumed I was going to be asked for my CC information during the set-up process to pay for the service I was going to sign-up for. Your question as you pose to me with regards to being refunded for something I had not paid for would engage me in fraudulent activity to be refunded any monies acquired by MJ from someone other than myself. As you sir/madman are not acquainted with me otherwise you certainly would not for a moment entertain such dialog
3.) The MJ rep. Lanette whom transferred me to MJ rep. Michaela, systems annalist according to Michaela, was advised the moment I was transferred to a chat box with this person that I had been given the 2 MJ’s by way of a 2nd party whom was not the purchaser, however Michaela had me plug into my computer one of the MJ’s in my possession and begin the install process. I did get a black dial pad that advised me to fill out the registration to activate the MJ and on the black dial pad upper left hand conner next to the words Magic Jack there was a hyphen and all zero’s where it looked to me as if that was where a persons MJ’s phone number would display (ie – 000-000-0000). I did not get much further than this as this was the point when I inquired about the trial period and due to the information given that billing information would be under the original purchaser.
I IMMEDIATELY stop filling out the registration process and did not finish.
4.) cdwaldron MagicJack Contributor, I respectful submit that MJ offer you gainful employment as it would be richly rewarding to not have wasted my time in a chat with two MJ employees in addition to from a companies stand point far more efficient of employees time. Although I am sure some person(s) might find your response a bit harsh or even insulting I did not. I found your response serving as to a reminder that the world is plagued with deceitful and fraudulent people and why our Churches of today are so empty and our incarceration facilities filled to their capacities.

In closing, cdwaldron MagicJack Contributor, neither my husband or I ever accept any payment from our friend for anything we do or provide him with, we simply wanted to try to use what our friend Proudly gave to us and report back to him we were using what he had given. As you imply in your title MagicJack Contributor perhaps you might advise/contact me as to someone who would benefit from the package I have. The 2 MJ’s are in orange colored cardboard casing with a styrofoam insert where the 2 MJ’s are along with 2 cables that have tags on them.
Please after reading my responses do not contact me in the event you choose to use dialog referencing stolen items or implications of fraudulent refunds. I seek no compensation what so ever for the MJ’s, the proud smile from our friend and a chance to report back to him at least someone benefited from what he gave is more than enough for both my husband and I.

Good grief. It's not clear to me what you're asking for.

In your original post you related a rather long saga which indicated the unit worked fine for you, but you solicited a 30-day trial. You were "shocked" that they wouldn't refund money to a credit card they hadn't charged. To me, your expectation sounds a little low-brow.

Now it seems that you're saying you don't expect a refund for something you didn't buy. And, that you want to give them to someone. Give them to Goodwill, or a battered-womens shelter.

If you want to use the devices, if you can register them it should be ok. The person who bought them has already paid for them. There won't be any additional charges to their credit card when you register and use these cards.

However, I believe MJ uses the credit card they were originally purchased with to verify a person's identity when they contact chat support for problems that may involve changing the account's settings. But, this form of authentication is problematic even when someone doesn't give their MJ to someone else. For example, when someone no longer has the card they used to purchase the device. Likewise, you could simply tell them you no longer have the card, don't remember the number, etc. You'd fall into the same category as genuine customers.

I will make some guesses here. First guess- Your 2 MJ devices have not been previously registered as mine carries that info with the dongle. I plug it into any computer and it comes up with the number and address book automatically. 2nd Guess- Your 2 MJ devices are older than 30 days, so original owner has already paid for device and first year of service. I would, if I were you, feel perfectly confident in registering either, or both if you want two accounts, and use them without feeling like you would be causing someone to be charged as MJ does not do residual billing. They are a yearly, pay as you go service that has a minimum of one year pre-paid with the usb dongle. Sounds like you were given a gift that is safe to use at your discretion. Hope this is better info in line with your question.

Thank You, az2008 MagicJack god, I sincerely apologize for what you reference as a saga which is apparent to me why you have some of my provided information out of context or simply due to your time being of value did not read all information, I do sincerely understand. Please allow me to thank you for you did provide me with some information of value, to which it would be disrespectful not to say again ThankYou.
I sincerely thank you for the great idea of Goodwill or a Battered-woman’s Shelter as I was given 2 of these.

Please accept my most humble sincerest Thanks of Gratitude you not only read all my information in its context and understood everything you have enabled me with information so that I’ll later proceed with the registration process I halted a few days ago while in my chat with the two MJ rep.’s
I will long remember the kindness of your gift of your time and 100% understanding my situation and my request for help. I am also going to do as az2008 MagicJack god mentioned regarding giving to either Goodwill or a Battered-Woman’s Shelter. I will find someone in need of the other one as I do not want to use them both. I know the person who gave this to my husband and I will feel a Great Sense Of Pride when I report to him that not only did we use what he gave but someone else benefited also from what he gave.
