As with anything - you need to consider what your main purpose for the MJ is - Magic Jack is sometimes irritating, but it fits my needs and for the price, I can tolerate it's irratic behavior.

In my case, we have cell phones but don't make are get a large volume of calls or minutes used so our cell phones provide us with most of the phone service we need. We live in an area that is a toll call for most of our friends and family to call us (even with the MJ) but our cell phone numbers are not toll calls for them to call us.

But I did not want to give up my land line phone because of those occasional instances where I have to call an insurance company etc. and after crawling through their automated phone system, I am transferred, put on hold forever, then the call is dropped and I have to call back. That would eat up cell phone minutes like crazy. That was my only reason for keeping the land line phone, so the Magic Jack seemed like the perfect answer. I could have the advantages of the land line phone (unlimited calling) and save $350.00 a year.

I have trouble with both incoming and outgoing calls and as with most posters, have found MJ's online support to be UNhelpful and downright frustrating. So I am going to post my problems on this forum and maybe I can get some tips to cut down on the problems.

Do you feel you are going to get at least $40 value out of your $40 investment? If so, you are ahead of the game. If you can squeeze more value out of your MJ by using what you learn here, you are a true winner.

Well worth the price

It's not the $40.00 it costs me, but the $350.00 a year it saves me. I wouldn't want to have to rely on it as my only phone but, for what I need it for, on those rare occasions, a little inconvenience can be tolerated. I have it for that one reason only, so if I have to redial a couple of times to get out, or have occasional glitches, it is still worth it.
