WiFi and Bluetooth Phones

Post by napoli »

Kensington has a good looking, folding wirless, bluetooth WiFi phone which will store, and charge, in the PC slot of your laptop. This would make it most convenient for traveling. Would this phone be compatable with Majic Jack and/or Vonage? If so, would it be a hastle to configure?

I use a bluetooth headset on my laptop with the MJ. My laptop does not have built in bluetooth, so I am using a bluetooth dongle and even adding that step, it was still easy to set up. The only problem I have had is that sometimes people will tell me that my audio is a bit low and ask that I speak up. It should work fine...can you supply a link to where we may find this phone?

Quote from the review:

"In Brief
Wi-Fi VoIP handsets are are cool, but have some serious drawbacks: they usually can't be used at hotspots since most lack Internet browsers for login purposes; they're hard to configure for new locations; they're ridiculously expensive ($200-300); and they're generally much bulkier than the typical cell phone. And who wants to carry both a Wi-Fi handset AND a cell phone? (Which you'll still need whenever you're away from a Wi-Fi connection.)"

Well that is a tremendous improvement over what the review indicated it would cost. At that price a guy could afford to play, at $300 I would not even consider it.

I am not interested, I have so many radios competing for space no that I would be afraid to and one more. But thanks for the tip, you probably saved someone a lot of money.

These are about $90.00 from Kensington direct. Still a lot of money to use the MJ.

Gerry_52,

You got that right, it is about the cost of 4.5 years of MJ service. But he with the most toys wins or something like that.
