Callers get fast busy or network unavailable after I use dnd

Post by TimSH »

OK, here's what happens... for the last 2 days, people have complained that when they try to call me they get a fast busy (if calling from a land line) or a network unavailable message (if calling from a cell phone).

Went round and round with tech chat. I "believe" what fixed it was disconnecting my mj for a few minutes then plugging it back in.

Here is what I "believe" causes the problem...

If I'm on a conference call or an important call I don't want interrupted, I'll pull down the menu and turn on do not disturb. After some period of time, maybe after turning it on and off a few times, people calling me start to have a problem. If I shut down the mj and unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in, it seems to work again. The odd thing is that they don't drop to voice mail at all, just can't get through. I can still make outgoing calls just fine.

I'm going to try NOT using dnd for the next few days and see if the problem crops up again.

Anyone else seen anything like this?

I experienced the same thing once. Put MJ on DND, and callers from cell phones received a "this user is not in the calling area" even *after* I toggled DND off. Restarting MJ (no need to wait between stop and start) fixed it.

Not sure what landline callers received.

Haven't tried it again since then (December).

It should go immediately to voice mail. And, it should resume ringing when it's toggled off.

I never had the inclination to contact MJ support. I've read one or two others who reported the problem of DND going to "unavailable" recording instead of voice mail, and got it fixed via chat support.
