I have used it at a friends house and they were intrigued that my phone would ring through their computer. I did not bring a phone with me but could have obviously.

I like using a big old vintage telephone from the 1960-70's connected through my MJ to a notebook at public WiFi hot spots just to see the reaction on peoples faces. When the old fashioned mechanical bell rings it's a great conversation starter which can be a good way to pick up MILFs. Basically...while all the cell-zombies are talking as loud as they can on their tiny little bluetooth earbuds, I'm kicking it old-school with a big old bakelite handheld receiver. As you can see I have way too much time on my hands and probably should get a hobby.
I tried at our local public library when our land line was down. The library's admins have the machines locked down enough that the MJ was unable to load the drivers.

May or may not work.. If on a public place, it may work if the ports that the magicJack uses are not blocked..
I've tried it on numerous computers. Friends are amazed when I call their number from their computer. Coolest demonstration (and shows how interconnected we are today) was in Australia. Someone in the room had a US cellphone that works overseas. Called that number with the MJ and his phone rang almost immediately. Other than a slight voice delay, the connection was great.
When I travel, I take a cheap phone that I bought for $5 from Dollar General. Works fine.

I think you have a huge bag with you everytime to carry that old school telephone.
I have tried to use it in Mexico at two different cyber cafe, using their computers that had spanish MS never could get it to work. It wouldn't boot up. Worked grate on my computer. Wish someone could tell me how to get it to work so my wife's family could call us here in the States.
