Technical No Support - user beware

Post by ruggb »

I am very technical - If you are not - good luck with this outfit.

I have been going around with this MJ for about 2 months now - trying to get it to work reliably.
At first it would totally disconnect randomly leaving a buzz in the phone instead of a dialtone.
then it wouldn't restart when the computer rebooted.
now it disconnects the phone completely - no buzz no dialtone, but i can still use it via the computer audio.

Technical No Support has been practically useless. half the time I had to suggest possible problems, like a conflicting program, before they told me it wasn't compatible with Nero, my CD burner, and I would have to uninstall that. - not an option I told them - after 2 more TNS people they finally gave me a solution - installing the MAC update on a windows machine.

Someone finally decided I needed new hardware with this phone dying problem.

1st issue, no one told me they were CHARGING my credit card for this replacement unit 3 weeks before I received it.

2nd issue = I rcvd it and connected it and it immediately goes to the web site to register -

Problem is, since I have an MJ with an assigned number it will only let me ADD a new number for the new unit or CREATE a new account.
I get on the line with TNS and specifically ask how to register the new MJ to my old number since it is a replacement unit.
I am asked to do this and that and clear the registry and upgrade, etc, etc - WHAT does this have to do with registering the unit - JUST DO IT is the answer.

OK I'll play your game - the instructions say to click on setup and SEE if MJ starts - I do and immediately get the web registration page again - I ask what am I suppose to SEE - response - "that is confidential and I can't share it with you."

I went thru 3 TNS people before I got the real answer, but before that I had to restate the question
three times
==================
I would like someone to tell me how to REGISTER a REPLACEMENT MJ without having to ADD a new number to my account or CREATE a new account for the replacement. I want to change the MJ assigned to this number
=================

After getting the response 3 times - "and what exactly is the problem you are having" and copying and pasting the above 3 times,

I finally said - "what is it about NO NEW NUMBER don't you understand"

the answer - we don't have the function to reassign phone numbers to new hardware.

WHAT - I can't believe this!

I hope DAN is listening - great idea, great price, maybe great hardware, BUT loose the TNS department and fix the S/W issues.
