Phone Number Changed Without Asking For It
I got my Majic Jack in October. In November it just quit working: no phone # at the top, no "ready to call", no ad in the screen, nothing. It would load, but then nothing would happen. I finally, after 2 days of trying, got through to the cusomer no-service chat and was told I would be sent up to a higher tech support. 32 minutes later, I am told for the 20th time to unplug the MJ at least 2 minutes and plug back in. I did, again and strangely, this time it came back up and worked. Here's the problem, the phone # changed to an area code 250 miles from here. I have had the Chat no-servince reps say they were "setting up a case" 3 times. The last one promising to "personally follow up" with me by email within 1 week to make sure it was rectified, because the system wants to charge me $10 for THEIR MISTAKE. I didn't ask to have my # changed at all, much less an area code 250 miles away. I was told, when I called the billing dept, someone would call within 2 days. Still nothing 11 days later. I HATE Qwest or else I would've dropped this pile of !@#* months ago. Any ideas what I can do, or am I scr@wed?

They have the right to change your number at any time (they should notify you, however.)
If you don't accept this change, your only option is to cancel the service with no refund. This change, however, should not cause you to lose your free single number change. I'd fight them if that is what they have done.
Lovely how they walk all over their customers.

And, if they refuse to honor their commitment, don't be shy about filing a complaint with the Southeast Florida BBB. Search the forum for a recent thread that has a link to them. MJ has an undeserved A- rating right now that is begging for new complaints like yours to bring the rating back to reality.
Don't waste your time with BBB. They are a deceptive business. As a business owner, I have gotten so many calls from BBB to become a member, for a fee of course. They basically collect money from companies so that they can give them a good rating. They are ineffective. In Florida, there are so many companies that have ripped off so many people, only to have a A rating with BBB.mberlant wrote:And, if they refuse to honor their commitment, don't be shy about filing a complaint with the Southeast Florida BBB.
