problems starting vista with Magic Jack Connected ?

Post by tfields4800 »

Hey all.. seen a couple of posts, but nothing that quite resembles whats going on with me..

When I start my Vista 32bit Sp1 machine with the Magic Jack installed, it will hang on the Loading bar unitl I remove the magic jack.

I have checked the bios settings, and that isn't the issue.. added the startup.exe is in the all users startup... no love there either.

Anyone found a fix?

I assume you tried a different USB port? I had a weird problem with a USB cordless mouse once. I moved it to a different USB port and the BSOD went away.
Also have you tried the MJ on a different PC??

Yep.. even went so far as to install a 4port pci card... Strange thing is, there is no BSOD...thanks for the post, but still in the dark... Surely I'm not the only one with this problem!

Only other thing I can think of is a powered hub..I don't use Vista ( XPSP3) but can you boot into safe mode with the MJ installed? Also is there a way to create a boot log to see WHERE it is hanging and what other app is maybe causing it to act this way?
YEARS ago Zone Alarm caused all kinds of crap for me with other apps while booting. MAYBE uninstall some apps one at a time till you find the bad guy? Just a thought of what I would try.
Here is the link to the powered USB hub ( I use and love it)
You can even mention my name to him as I have recommended many people to him and all happy.

open msconfig and see whats starting with windows. I have a compaq computer and a program called "compaq connection helper" was the problem. To open msconfig click on the windows icon start and type it in. (Vista users)
Just give me a new gadget everyday!
