Connecting magicjack plug to Phone Box Outside House Will i

Post by edkoby »

Can I connect magicjack output to the phone box outside the house. I would therefore in theory be able to plug a phone into any of my house phone jacks. Is this doable?

Goony..I did do a search and I prefer NOT to have to buy those adapters. My question has not been asked previously. Can I run a phone line (or use existing line already in home) from MJ to the AT&T "input" on the box outside the house? I would first disconnect the phone company line (since I had service disconnected) .Thus the input to the splitter in the phone box would be the active line from the MJ. All other house jack lines are sourced from the phonebox outside the house.

You don't really need to run MJ's phone cord all the way to the main telephone junction box. Just disconnect the telephone wire of whatever landline service you have from the main telephone junction box. This step assures your house internal telephone wiring is isolated from the previous telephone network wiring. Then just connect MJ's telephone cord to the nearest wall's phone jack and all other phone jacks in your house will have the same MJ's signal.

If you are going to completely disconnect the Telco from coming into your house yes you can run a telephone cable to the outside box. You can not put the MagicJack out there 1. it is not built for that kind of exposure 2. the USB run would be too long.

But you don't have to go to the box outside. Just unplug the Telco at the outside box and connect your MagicJack telephone out to any jack in your house.

Just make sure you disconnect the Telco first.

PS - Thanks kumar for voiding my whole post. I have always been accused of being too fast but I guess they were talking about something else not posting.

Thanks Guys! I appreciate all your input/suggestions and will: a) disconnect the incoming AT&T phone line first from the junction box outside the house (service previously canceled) so all the phone lines/wall jacks in the house are isolated. Then I will plug the MJ into the phone wall plug right by where my PC is set-up. :D
