WhyNo Taxes? Other VIP Must Charge Tax
How come MJ does not have to charge all those taxes other VIP's and local AT&T have to charge?
edkoby,
MJ pays all the same taxes and any other carrier. MJ has chosen to roll it all into a single price tag rather than leading you astray and advertising something at a lower price only to find out when you actually purchase it the price is $40 dollars for the first year. They don't bait you with a fake price tag they just tell you the bottom line right upfront.
AT&T on the other hand charges me about $78 dollars a month for my (and I quote) $59 dollar a month plan.
Talk about baiting have you ever received an offer from a cell phone company that your are a customer with and they want to cell you a real fancy phone and it is only $100 dollars. When you click on the link it takes you to a page that says in the smallest print they can get on the page "With a two year contract". But if you are already a customer that really hot phone will only cost you $395 dollars. Nah - they don't do that intentionally to get you drooling and then hit you with the real price.

Are you talking about ATT Wireless? If you are here is our bill:
$59.99 plan for 2 lines, but get 17% corporate discount off $50 (the base line) and then $10 for the 3rd line on our count. An addition to this is a $5 texting plan....Total is about $85-$90. Oh yea mine was around $78-$82 when we didn't have the texting plan.... Are you on familytalk 550? I love ATT wireless service since i can get new phones for free when ever i want....and w/o killing my contract. I don't like their prices (not that i pay lol) tmobile was better for the price and CS, but coverage sucked. Now they added a tower after i left them in the middle of a 2 year (oh yes i got out w/o paying ETF) so i may switch back when this ATT contracts up....
Peace

kumar,
Yes I am with AT&T. I have also thought about T-mo several times, but I have the same concerns you have about coverage. I also like most things about AT&T accept their prices. And yes being able to pick up a GSM phone any time I get the urge is pretty nice.
When I was with Corning, Inc. my cell phone bill was also pretty good. Now without corporate assistance it really sucks.
I have just a basic single line 900 minute plane. I do have the early nights tacked on but I did not include that when I quoted my bill. My bill the artificial $59 dollars climes to around $78 dollars thru taxes, and a bunch of other things that they make sound like taxes but aren't, actually I don't know what they are.
I haven't been able to read a phone bill and make sense out of it since Ma-Bell went out of business.

People, dont get me started on how my sprint cell phone plan is $59.99 but actually comes out to almost $75.00 or more if they decide to double bill me for my unlimited text add-on for an extra $5.00, I think they charge tax on the electricity you use to charge the phone.
help! I am running out of USB ports!!!!!!!!
Tell me, Mr. Anderson... what good is a phone call... if you're unable to speak?

Yep, I also love having GSM since i can switch my phone whenever i want to.
curiousgeorge:
Here are the reasons I dont go with Sprint:
A) CDMA
B) Coverage Sucks
C) CS sucks (for me at least)
D) most of the phones aren't good
...the only thing i like abt sprint is there texting is like $15 for unlimited....I could use that
Peace

All very good reasons! but did you know that sprint does not make you re-new your plan for 2 years if you want to upgrade/downgrade your calling plan like before and that was my worst peve about them but its gone now, still I will cancell my service when my plan expires and see if by then maybe metro pcs has coverage in my area.

@Kumar: the only other thing to like about Sprint is the "Home Phone" where you can add a single Unlimited Calling Phone # (whether Cell or Landline) for $5/mo on a Consumer Acct and $8/mo on a Business Acct.
@curiousgeorge: LOL, I am with you -- it sure does feel like these phone ppl charge you for the electricity you use to use their service -- they might as well with the fees they tack on.
@LikeMagic: YES! Between MJ and other VOIP services I use, the sweetest feeling EVER was telling the local telco to "kick rocks" ... the funniest part is they EXPECTED me to request porting the Phone #!! Ha.
GrandCentral is (so far) the BEST thing EVER ... because the various phone entities (landline, cell, or VOIP) have you by the short hairs if you fall in love w/ a particular phone #. Get rid of that love; place your services behind GC and say Goodbye to ANY provider that is not providing the appropriate level of service.
Now let's all just HOPE (fingers crossed) GC doesn't start messing up or charging a lot (they did have to restore vmails a couple of weeks back -- I don't know why, but everything seemed to be intact except that contacts had to restate their names)

I'm just happy with Dan's MJ device & service ... Dan saves me probably $20-$25 a month in long distance calls
Best feeling ever when I told my local landline service to drop all my local & long distance calling plans
