1800 numbers

Post by bigballa2345 »

I cant seem to call any 1800 numbers. I haven't tried any troubleshooting yet and don't really feel like wasting time if there isn't a solution. does anybody know of any quick fixes that could solve this problem or is it on magicjacks end and i just have to wait for them to fix it.

Yes, the problem is on MJ end. 503 "service unavailable" response to all attempts. You could try an alternate proxy (will probably break incoming), call through e.g. GrandCentral, or use one of the many services (Skype, Gizmoproject, etc.) that offer free toll-free calls.

I was also unable to use click-to-call, either to MJ or a Vitelity line. However, a call to my GC number did ring on MJ. Perhaps this is GC problem.

its ok. i just downloaded skype and used it for the meantime. it works just as good anyway i guess. i'll just keep it on my computer and use it for 1800 calls because that feature in mj goes down a lot for some odd reason. thanks for the help.

also if i configure mj to work with another softphone, do you think that makes it anymore dependable. i know i switched the skin files with that of sjphone's free softphone and loaded it up with the magicjack.exe file and it enabled dial out 3 way calling to work on that softphone interface. does this have the ability to change any other features. i may do it again so i could continue to use normal conference calling.

Well, I couple weeks ago I was helping one of my friends to install MJ on his new notebook ( Vista).... Amazingly, it didn't take long. Then I had some troubles installing the router for his cable internet. So, I had to call Lynksis customer service, using MJ.... As you realize with a toll free number it was impossible to get through.... This week I have received my MJ and it seems like I can make calls on tall free number without any problem. It seems that mystery of MJ will remain unexplainable for long time

I'm not having any problems calling a toll free number,, 1-800, 1-866 etc,, just don't dial the 1, as u do on a regular call. When you dial the 1 you are adding an extra number,, try dialing 800-xxx-xxxx, DO NOT dial the 1.

Now mine is working both ways, with and without the 1.
