tigerjet for mj

i used their online support for magic jack and they told me not to use the tigerjet. my laptop came with windows vista and using magic jack with my portable phone people sound like Maxx Headrum and or I break up and they only get parts of what I am saying. I dont know how to find any other thing to use inplace of tigerjet. finally they told me that I might have better luck using my desktop which has XP. Without using tigerjet I can only use my speakers on my laptop but after hanging up with a call my phones dialtone comes on but i cant use it to call. the strangest thing is i still have to have my phone cord plugged into the computer to make a call to begin with. my 30 days have long been up and i am frusted. i am not computer savvy at all and some of the things you suggest i dont think i can do or it would take hours to do and still not be right.
